Gohl Clinic of Chiropractic

23 year old student, Justin, had been suffering with SEVERE SCIATIC PAIN since the New Year!  Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips, buttocks, and down the leg. It can be caused by an irritation, inflammation, pinching or compression of a nerve in the lower back.  It can range from moderate irritation to unbearable discomfort. After a visit to the ER and 3 long months of on-going unbearable pain, Justin knew he could not continue on that path.

Standard search engine searches do not list Chiropractic treatment for sciatic pain as a first option. Many patients report Chiropractic as being their last resort after exhausting all other options that did not work for them. By the time we see them in the office, many patients had already received some sort of prescription medication, spinal injection, or physical therapy that resulted in little to no improvement for them. This is because the cause of the sciatic pain had not been addressed.

Sciatica is not a condition, it is a symptom of an UNDERLYING CAUSE. At the Gohl Clinic, which exclusively practices the GONSTEAD CHIROPRACTIC system, full spine X-RAYS are a requirement to seeing your entire spine. Most providers will take sectional X-RAYS, usually only the area (s) patients ‘think’ the pain is. The issue with sectional x-rays is you limit the view of the entire spine. Full spine XRAYS allow us to see both complete front and side views of your spine. This way we can see the severity of the condition and where else the spine and body is compensating for the underlying issue. In this case for example, without full-spine x-rays, it would be difficult to know the patient had a natural fusion at L5 and the underlying issue was really from L4.

True healing from any symptom must come from within. In Gonstead Chiropractic, a key concern is the optimal function of your nervous system. If there are issues with the nerve impulse, you can experience symptoms. Healing from a severe case can take anywhere from weeks to months or even years. In Justin’s case, it only took a few visits. It is important to take action at the first few cues. This will also eliminate your down time (time off from work or time away from friends and family).  Most flare ups do not heal solely on their own and can worsen with time if not treated (even though most of us think it will get better on its own). Share this video with someone you know that is currently battling sciatic pain. It is not too late!
