Gonstead Chiropractic Carlsbad Adjustment Blood Pressure

The Carlsbad chiropractor demonstrates gentle T2 adjustment in cervical chair with Gonstead chiropractic in San Diego. Adjustment removes interference to the nervous system allowing fullest expression of life.

Blood Pressure Issues?
The nervous system regulates blood pressure. If you interfere with the nervous system, it could affect your blood pressure. A patient came in with a diagnosed history of high blood pressure by her medical doctor. We found subluxation at T2 and corrected it just like this (not actual patient). She testified that after the second adjustment her blood pressure went from a 189/92 to a 122/72. Since then, her systolic never crested 130.

Actual patient description.  After the final analysis, she redid the results of care one month later (barely visible in yellow).  Everything was better 80 to 90% better. Don’t wait for years before getting help and call us today to schedule a consultation with your San Diego Gonstead Chiropractor in Carlsbad.

Dr. Gohl would regularly set T2 in chair. Dr. Gohl had huge hands so he could easily contact there.  I’ve seen him set as low as T4 in chair on a student, just to “see if he could.”  Anything lower than T2 he would set in knee chest.

I prefer knee chest for anything below T1.  I feel taking the slack out straight P to A is much easier in KC.  For every segment in the thoracic not done in the chair it is necessary to use the transverse contact.  Using a single hand contact in the thoracics on an imbricated area will only send the segment more inferior.   This is a manipulation and even though it may make the patient feel better, it will further subluxate the joint. In later Gonstead videos from 1978, he spoke of using the transverse only.  Dr. Gohl only ever adjusted off the transverse.  On occasion during a seminar, Gohl told Gonstead that he was contradicting his own writings.  On one page in Chapters on the thoracics, Gonstead shows a diagram of the LOD thru the disc. On the next page, he says contact the spinous process, which clearly shows this would send the segment inferior.

Taking the slack out must be done at the segment level, here T2.  The rotation and lateral flexion is all done at the joint level to take the joint to tension, to the point where the joint is right about to move.  The thrust is still I to S.  If you’re lifting I to S, it will send the segment P to A.  Setting straight P to A from a neutral position will force you to have a much greater thrust, making the patient very uncomfortable.  The patient here is very comfortable having their adjustment.  Additionally, pushing P to A has the tendency to drive the inferior bone, T3, more inferior.  I to S thrust should always be used in cervical chair up to C2.

NOTE: You can always bust thru slack with speed and force, but this is very uncomfortable to the patient and the vertebrae will only set when all the slack is out anyway.  If you focus on taking out the slack as Dr. Gohl advised, the thrust is very insignificant.

Everything I ever learned about adjusting is from my mentor Dr. Gohl.  You can find his products at www.gohlchiropractic.com.  The site is run by his daughter who put together all his material in a teachable fashion.  His work represents the definitive work on chiropractic and it’s essential for everyone to know, especially those interested in the Gonstead system.
